Laparoscopic Procedures

Laparoscopic bariatric procedures rely on videoscopic technology. This technology allows us to perform weight loss surgery with a minimally invasive technique. The benefits of the laparoscopic approach allows, in most cases, a reduced hospital stay, less pain, and earlier return to normal activities. In addition, the wound complication and hernia risks are significantly reduced.

The criteria for laparoscopic surgery is the same as open surgery (outlined in "Are You a Candidate?") Not all patients are candidates for laparoscopic surgery and in some cases it is necessary to convert the procedure to an open procedure.

We offer roux-en-y gastric bypass, vertically banded roux-en-y gastric bypass, vertical / sleeve gastrectomy, and the lap band via laparoscopic technique. We offer duodenal switch and VERGITO via hand assisted laparoscopic technique.
