Before undergoing DS surgery I had began to lose hope of ever living much past the age of 40. I was at a standing weight of 497 pounds. I was on a variety of injections and medications for extreme hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and had several other problems physically as well as emotionally and socially. Most of these problems were weight related.

I'm now at a weight of 294 and feel great!

This surgery may not be for everyone but I can say with no reservations that it changed my life and probably saved it as well. No one who is not morbidly or super morbidly obese can appreciate what I have been talking about here. It is debilitating in every sense of the word. Fortunately for me, my family, and co-workers who carried my load for several years, it's in the past. And thanks to this procedure its somewhere I'll never be again!

Don't let anyone sugar coat this surgery. It's rough and it is VERY painful. If someone asked me post-op if I would do it again for the first several months I would have said no. Now I would say in a heartbeat.
