As I look back over the past 3 years it is difficult to conceive how greatly my life has changed. The care I received from Dr. Husted, Jamie Carr, and all of the staff was beyond superb. My life has literally been given back to me in a multitude of ways.

Before the surgery, I was constantly tired and unable to function with any energy. I never felt good and always felt like I looked awful. It was difficult to take any pride in my appearance. Even in the finest of clothes I looked like an unmade bed. I repeatedly said that I was not doing something this drastic for the sake of appearance, but in retrospect I realize how much an improved appearance improves outlook.

At this point in my life I have energy and enthusiasm for everything that I do. I enjoy getting up every morning - quite early. My life as a minister is busy and hectic, but I am working on a doctorate and am about to finish it. I find time to read more than I ever have. I travel and move about more freely since I carry less of a load. For several years I have tried to spend a bit of time in the British Isles touring and studying. I have so much more fun now that I can move about more freely. Before the surgery I would never have dared to don the tartan (wear a kilt) in Scotland, but in one of my recent trips, I purchased the full outfit and felt very debonair the night that Her Majesty and I attended the Edinburgh Tattoo. (I'm not sure she knew I was there among the 9000 attendees, but I knew she was there.)

There are not words enough to express the gratitude and affection I feel for John Husted and Jamie Carr. Their care, attentiveness, and concern have been far beyond the 'normal standard of care.'
