All I can say is that Dr. Husted saved my life. I think my pictures are testimony enough to that. If there's anyone on the fence about bariatric surgery or especially deciding between gastric bypass and DS. Get off the fence, have DS and then live a long, healthy, happy life. I had gastric bypass in 1995. I lost lots of weight only to gain it all back plus more. With the biliopancratic diversion with duodenal switch (DS) patients seldom, if ever, gain the weight back. With the gastric bypass, it's almost a sure thing that you will gain it back. As for choosing a surgeon, Dr. Husted is the BEST. He did my surgery in Nashville, but I'd travel around the world to him if I had to in order to have surgery done by him. He truly is the master of DS. Don't even think about this. Just do it. If insurance pays, great, if it doesn't mortgage your house, do whatever you have to do to stay alive and have a life worth LIVING!!! That's the key -- and that's what DS does for those of us who are / were morbidly obese.
