I have been fat all my life!!! I can remember being the kid that the other kids said, fatty fatty 2 by 4, can't get through the bathroom door to and even though I laughed with them, I still hurt on the inside. I have been on every diet known to man and some that probably should not have been. I would lose weight and then I would go back to eating and gain it all back plus more!!!

Eleven years ago I was told that I had type 2 Diabetes. That really scared me and I lost 121 pounds, then I nearly had a nervous breakdown from having to have a Hysterectomy without being able to have any children and I gained 114 pounds of it back. I just gave up!!! In 1999 I had a very bad case of Congested Heart Failure; I got scared again and lost 66 pounds. I started eating again and gained 72 pounds back!!! In 2002, I was in the hospital with CHF so many times that I can't even count. My blood sugar was staying between 300 and 500, I was on 100 units of insulin a day, but I didn't care because I felt like that I wanted to die!!!

Then on Halloween of 2002, God showed me that I didn't want to die, that night my breathing was so shallow that I felt like that if I went to bed that night that I would not be alive the next morning!!! I went to the ER that night & my blood sugar was almost 600, they admitted me for a few days. That was the turning point in my life; I knew then that I did not want to die!!! On Oct.7th of 2002 I weighed 367 pounds, when I got out of the hospital, I started walking 5 minutes 3 times a day, but I knew that I needed more help than what I could give myself!!!

I thank God for leading me to Dr. Husted, when I first saw Dr. Husted on April 23rd of 2003 I weighed 336 pounds and my blood sugar was way out of control!!! He thought because of my high blood sugar and my high BMI that the DS would be the best surgery for me!!! God worked it out that my insurance did not give me any trouble. I was able to have my surgery on July 25, 2003!!! Three days before my surgery my blood sugar was over 400 and since I came home from the hospital from my surgery, I have taken 2 units of insulin (1 unit at 2 different times) I am now off all of my diabetes medicine & my blood sugar is staying between 65 & 125, I no longer have CHF. The morning of my DS I weighed 329 pounds and yesterday at Dr. Husted's office I weighed 213 pounds!!!

I thank God for allowing Dr. Husted to give me my life back!!!
