In September of 2000, my doctor told me that I was going to
die within five years if I didn't do something about my weight.
He told me about gastric bypass surgery and gave me the number
of the local support group. I had diabetes and high blood
pressure.
I did lots of praying and began doing research.
It didn't take me long to figure out that if I was going to
have the surgery, I wanted the best surgeon. I went to Nashville
and met with Dr. Husted and Jamie. I made my decision that
day.
I feel like I've been given a second chance
at life. I no longer have diabetes or high blood pressure.
I can walk, sit in booths, go to the movies, wear a seat belt,
and cross my legs. My family is very proud of me. I can't
stop smiling.
